Blogger Candidate Forum: Redacted

Hello Everyone:

This is Blogger Candidate Forum and the word of the day is redacted. The redacted version of the Special Counsel’s final report on Russian interference in the 2016 elections is public. Here is what we know so far: While there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian agents, there was not enough evidence to prosecute the president for obstruction of justice in federal court. However, it may lay the groundwork for impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.  What we also know is that a third of the 448-page report has at least one redacted word. Redactions are not necessarily a bad thing, in this case, because preserves the confidentiality of grand jury testimony, pertains to ongoing investigations, and matters of national security. Nevertheless, there is something that smells odd about the redactions.  Perhaps if the Justice Department released the entire, unredecated version of the SCO’s report, that odd smell would clear up. The Candidate Forum is entirely sure what that odd smell is but will follow the story and see where it leads. There will be more on Monday, once The Candidate Forum has had a chance to digest some of the information and get over a recurring case of sinusitis.
